Blogger Error

Hello! You are probably wondering what happened to the daily posts….I’m wondering the same thing. I had them all pre-programmed. I spent 3 days getting all the posts ready so they all show up – but they have gone missing. I’m not an expert enough to understand all the intricate working of blogger work, but I have had a friend look in to it for me and they say they MIGHT be able to get it all back…

I have been so flat out busy I really haven’t had time to re-do the posts. They included how to make some great easy gift ideas, recipes and lots more. I will try again next year! (unless we are able to get them found!!)

So for now, I won’t try and work ahead anymore and just go back to posting when I write 🙂

Wishing you all a wonderful Sunday!

Marijke

2nd Day of December…

23 days till Christmas 🙂 Can you tell I’m excited?

What traditions do your family have with the lead up to Christmas? We are slowly introducing our family favourites as the kids are getting a little older and are starting love traditions. We do always (and have for as long as I remember) watch Carols by Candlelight on TV on Christmas Eve and we always went to midnight mass. For the past few years we have gone to Christmas morning mass instead as I always had a child that was too young. (it’s hard getting 3 excited kids under 5 to settle and listen to a church service 🙂 !)This year, as the youngest is now 3 we will be going to midnight mass again. Our local Church encourages the little kids to get involved and dress up as Angels or shepherds.

Today my 2 little princes and princess sat down and wrote out all of their Christmas cards. They are now all ready to be posted tomorrow. I’m thinking some family members will be very suprised to receive them as I have been a little disorganised the past 2 years since having a shop – and its even weeks before christmas! And I have even printed off over 100 photos to add to the cards and send.

Today we opened the 2nd day on our advent calendar, and instead of a recipe or craft idea I have a little gift to hand out. The first person to get 5 new people to join our facebook page wins a pack of 8 packs of ribbon (total of 48m of ribbon!). They just need to mention who sent them 🙂

I have a very cute gift giving idea for you tomorrow.

See you then!

Advent Calendar – Day 1

1st day of December….. I LOVE the countdown to Christmas.

I love decorating the house in all its tinsel glory, cooking special treats with the kids, creating christmas gifts for the teachers (we have 8 to create for this year! + the daycare ladies…My middle child is in a split Kindy class, so he has a total of 2 teachers and 4 assistants. And our school is lucky enough to have a permanent teacher assistant in each class which means another 2 gifts) and just the general merriment that seems to be around at this time of year.

For something different this year I thought I would have an online Advent Calendar featuring something different everyday. I will show you some easy and cheap gift ideas, give away templates, share my favourite recipes and share my finds on pinterest and the web.

There will also be plenty of giveaways 🙂

To start of the month I will let you in on one of our favourite gift giving recipes. We love the colours and it tastes very yummy too!

  • Ingredients
  • 250g packet marshmallows, halved
  • 100g packet dried cranberries
  • 110g packet macadamia nuts, roughly chopped
  • 60g pistachios (optional)
  • 1/3 cup (35g) desiccated coconut
  • 2 x 180g blocks good-quality white chocolate,
  • chopped
  • Method

  1. Step 1
Grease a 20cm square cake pan. Line base and sides with baking paper, allowing a 2cm overhang on all sides.
  2. Step 2
Combine marshmallows, cranberries, nuts and coconut in a bowl. Place chocolate in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave on medium-high for 1-2 minutes, stirring with a metal spoon every 30 seconds, or until smooth.
  3. Step 3
Pour chocolate over marshmallow mixture. Mix well. Spoon mixture into prepared pan, pressing down with a spatula. Refrigerate for 2 hours or until set. Using a warm knife, cut into squares. Serve.

This recipe has been taken from www.taste.com.au website. It has been tried and tested by my kids and has been given their seal of approval.

Be sure to come back tomorrow! I feel a big giveaway coming up!

Key to a Happy Home…

Look what I found on the Kaiser blog…..
“The Key to a Happy Home is Love” By Trudi Harrison
Kaisercraft Products: Pickled Pear Collection – P974 Fig, PP883 Paper Pad, CT735 Collectables; Merry & Bright SS158 Sticker Sheet, EM928 Lace, Paper Blooms F632 Sage
Other: Ink, Chipboard elements, buttons, MS border punch, Ribbon, Gesso, Ink, Glimmer Mist, Mod Podge
Trudi Says:
“The ‘key’ is one of new free standing home decor pieces released this month.  As the key is sturdy and 18 mm thick there was plenty of room to accommodate a village effect that sits along the top of it.
The front of the key was first covered with the Fig paper.  I found the easiest way to do this was to trace the shape onto the paper and then cut out.  Mod Podge was used to adhere the paper to the key surface.  The edges were then lightly sanded and inked.
The other surfaces of the key were painted with gesso – this was applied quite roughly for a distressed, shabby look.  Some inking and misting was added.
Papers from the Pickled Pear Paper Pad were used to alter the houses.  Hand cut elements were used to embellish the front of the houses along with one of the border stickers from the Merry & Bright Sticker Sheet.    A border punch was used to create a decorative roof edge for each of the houses.
A touch of grunge was added to the Kaisercraft Lace.  It was altered with gesso and Glimmer Mist and then attached along the front edge of the key.”
The wooden keys are only $5 and available in store now.
