Trudi Says:
“The ‘key’ is one of new free standing home decor pieces released this month. As the key is sturdy and 18 mm thick there was plenty of room to accommodate a village effect that sits along the top of it.
The front of the key was first covered with the Fig paper. I found the easiest way to do this was to trace the shape onto the paper and then cut out. Mod Podge was used to adhere the paper to the key surface. The edges were then lightly sanded and inked.
The other surfaces of the key were painted with gesso – this was applied quite roughly for a distressed, shabby look. Some inking and misting was added.
Papers from the Pickled Pear Paper Pad were used to alter the houses. Hand cut elements were used to embellish the front of the houses along with one of the border stickers from the Merry & Bright Sticker Sheet. A border punch was used to create a decorative roof edge for each of the houses.
A touch of grunge was added to the Kaisercraft Lace. It was altered with gesso and Glimmer Mist and then attached along the front edge of the key.â€
The wooden keys are only $5 and available in store now.
