Prima Weekend

On Friday 26th April, Elisa and I picked up Janine Koczwara from Geraldton Airport. Yep – she was really here! After months of preparation and build up we occasionally wondered if she would really come all the way to Geraldton.

To say we are fans of Janine is an understatement!! Why Janine? About 6 months ago we (Amber and I) decided we would love to have a Scrapbooking Celebrity teach us some awesome new techniques. We had a pretty big criteria list and Janine fitted the bill perfectly. So I sent off an email, and she said she was more than happy to come and teach us!
Janine designed 4 classes for us. 2 Layouts, a card class (using not yet released Prima dies!) and a canvas class.
Here are the kits:

On Friday night we went out to dinner at Tanti’s then Janine, along with Jo and Addie who flew up from Perth for our weekend, stayed in the Bed and Breakfast on George Street.
Pam (the owner) was really wonderful. I had booked Janine the Garden Room with ensuite, but Pam (after finding out who was coming) upgraded her to the Cottage with Spa bath. Thanks Pam!

On Saturday morning the Ladies arrived nice and early for their class. We had ladies from Dongara, Mullewa, Mingenew, Port Kennedy, Perth and of course Geraldton.
We started off with the Feminine Distress layout. In true Janine style this layout is full of distressing, layer upon layer, flowers and many techniques. We did go 1 hour over time on this layout!

We stopped briefly for a yummy lunch supplied by Senses Cafe (click here) then continued on with our card class.

We created 3 pretty cards using the Pretty Pastel collection, some special flowers (Janine had bought with her from Prima HQ in the US) and we got an exclusive and where able to use the new dies from Prima which will be released in the coming weeks!

On Sunday we had more ladies join us, and to make it easier for Janine I rearranged all the tables in the morning to make it a big U shape. The morning started off with some more distressing and fun techniques to create a gorgeous layout which suits more masculine themes.

Lunch was once again supplied by Nat from Senses Cafe (what a champ – starting work at 5am to make us all lunch!)
After lunch we settled back down to get in to the mixed media and creating a stunning canvas.

At the end of the weekend we have all become a little Janine-a-fied. Tools we never thought we needed we can’t do without (the Prima Distress tool), never believed we would change from our favourite adhesive  and now find ourselves only using Helmar 450 and I have an overwhelming urge to use doilies on all of my layouts!
Thank You Janine for a Wonderful Weekend! We are so honoured that you came to teach us, and so happy you have said you will return.
